What Is Chase Away Cancer?

Chase Away Cancer first began as the family blog of the Ewoldts – “E-Family” –  in 2010. When Chase, our third of four young children was diagnosed with ATRT (a malignant cancer of the central nervous system) in July 2012, the blog gradually become a platform for Chase’s story through an aggressive childhood cancer diagnosis.

The primary writer of this site is Ellie Poole Ewoldt with occasional guest appearances by her better half, Bob.

The term “Chase Away Cancer” was first coined by a family friend during a fundraiser shortly after Chase was diagnosed. It plays off of Chase’s name and also the desire that unites us – to chase this vicious disease far away.

On Chase Away Cancer, we remain committed to writing through this atypical life while pursuing the goodness of God in the big and small alike . . . moment by moment.

  1. I cannot even begin to express my heart for your son and for your family and what you are going through right now. I am visiting from KellysKorner Blog and she asked us to pray for Chase. My son, Emerson (or as we like to call him E-bear) is the same age as Chase. He was born on January 30th 2012. I am just writing to tell you that I will be praying for precious son. I am absolutely amazed at the strength God has given you.

    Sincerely,
    Kelly

  2. Will be keeping your sweet son, Chase in my prayers. I can’t believe what a small world it is as we just got home from the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago last night after two days of appointment at the hospital. A memory foam mattress in the rooms was amazing!!! I slept so soundly that I don’t remember getting up when our daughter needed to be repositioned as her oxygen level was dropping. Love that Chase has found comfort from the “iches” in a washcloth. That is just precious!

  3. I will be praying for your precious son. Ironically, a coworker of mine’s two year old daughter was just recently diagnosed with AT/RT also. Her name is Amris Bedford and we live in Blackshear, GA. You can look her up on facebook at “Love and Prayers for Amris”. She is just beginning her treatment at St. Jude’s. I am so sorry that these precious babies have to face such evil but I know that God is sovereign and has a perfect plan. Praying for your family… as a mother my heart breaks for you.

  4. Hi Ewoldt family! I’m sure Bob doesn’t remember…but I went to MBI with him (Maiden name Lentz). I wanted you to know that I spent some time praying for sweet Chase and your family today. Thank you for being so open in sharing this experience! To God be the Glory!

  5. I have enjoyed reading the updates on Chase. He is such a precious boy. My heart aches for you and your whole family. Praying for you. So happy that you got to see a smile today from Chase.

  6. I have been following your blog ever since we heard about Chase’s diagnosis. I am a friend of Bob’s parents and we at Grace Bible Fellowship have your family on our weekly prayer sheet. This morning as I was praying, I was thanking the Lord that HE IS ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and I know the Lord is doing an incredible work in you and through you as you are in this battle for life. Bob your Dad reminded us a couple of weeks ago to pray for Chase every time we see an advertisement for Chase bank, so I know the Lord is hearing many prayers on your behalf.
